Description
When a public clock strikes thirteen in the rain-soaked city of Liangjing, clock inspector Wei Suyin finds a receipt for a day that hasn't happened yet. A secret auction lets desperate people sell one of their possible tomorrows for money today. The problem is that every transaction changes history, and most citizens never notice anything was different. Wei Suyin does. By recording the discrepancies in the municipal clock ledger before dawn, she clings to the truth while streets, memories, and lives shift around her. Her investigation leads to impossible sales, a murder yet to occur, and unsettling questions about her father's death. To stop the auction, she may have to sacrifice the only future that remembers her.
