Chapter 586: Uprooting the Money Tree
"My goodness! Are you trying to die young so I, your older brother, can burn paper money for you? Didn't we agree not to risk your life?!"
The VIP ward, which was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, was shattered by Huang Fengwen's booming roar.
On the bed, Su Hao blinked innocently, his expression as pure as a little white rabbit that had wandered into a pack of wolves.
"Hey, Brother Huang, what are you saying? I'm really fine, they're just making a big fuss, insisting on putting me here."
"Making a big fuss?!" Huang Fengwen glared, his beard bristling.
"Everyone in the department saw it, saying you were staring at a document like you were under a spell, falling straight backward!
That's making a big fuss?!"
It was indeed a misunderstanding.
Su Hao silently cursed inwardly.
He had calculated everything, but he hadn't anticipated that his gut feeling, like a battering ram hitting him head-on, would be so powerful it would overheat and burn out his CPU.
"Ahem, anyway, the doctor said all the indicators were normal, just a little low blood sugar."
"You're lucky!" Huang Fengwen slumped down, fuming.
"By the way, Brother Huang, aren't you going to the US soon?" Su Hao changed the subject,
"I heard you're going to inspect our 'Trinity Guild's' North M branch?"
"That's right. The last time I went was too rushed, like a whirlwind tour. Those guys were all so busy they barely had time to breathe, I didn't even get to see everyone."
Hearing this, Huang Fengwen's face lit up with anticipation,
"This time is different. I heard everyone's booked up their schedules to welcome me."
Huang Fengwen had always regretted not seeing everyone last time.
But this time, even the current head of the US—President BD—would be personally attending. The scale of the event was simply off the charts.
“Hey kid, want to come along and have some fun?”
“Your presence as the guild leader is enough. I have some small matters to attend to here.”
“What small matters?” Huang Fengwen's brows furrowed.
“Look, everyone’s here.” Su Hao gestured towards the door with his chin.
Just as he finished speaking, the door to the VIP ward opened, and a group of subordinates from the Special Transactions Department filed in.
Upon seeing Huang Fengwen beside the bed, they instantly froze, each one holding their breath in hushed tension.
"Chairman, good morning!"
Seeing this, Huang Fengwen glared at Su Hao again, clearly annoyed:
"Wow, you're something else, lying in a hospital bed and still thinking about holding a department meeting?"
"Brother Huang, this has to be done today, it's extremely urgent." Su Hao said seriously.
Huang Fengwen had no choice but to turn and give the order with a dark face:
"Listen! If your boss tries anything again, tie him to the bed immediately! Understand?"
"Yes, Chairman! The meeting will be over within an hour!" Liang Haiyuan, the leader, stood at attention.
"Thirty minutes!" Huang Fengwen held up three fingers, decisively.
"...Yes!"
Su Hao pushed him, half-laughing, half-crying:
"Hey, Brother Huang, you should go now. With you here, they don't even dare to breathe, like a bunch of quails."
"Anyone who didn't know better would think you were going to lay off staff on the spot."
"Finish this quickly so you can get some rest. I'll call to check up on you in thirty minutes!"
"You should hurry up and prepare for your trip to the US; that's the important thing!"
After much persuasion, they finally managed to get this worried older brother out of the hospital room.
The meeting could finally begin normally.
"Where are the things I asked for?"
"Chairman Su, here they are." Li Huilin handed over the stack of documents related to the "CP concept stocks" that had almost sent Su Hao to his death.
"..."
Su Hao took a deep breath and reached for the stack of documents again.
Sure enough.
This shock, though not as violent as before, still sent a clear electric current shooting through his fingertips.
It surged up his nerves like lightning, his cerebral cortex buzzing, every cell seemingly screaming:
"Sell! Sell now! This thing's going to explode!"
The signal couldn't be clearer: liquidate everything immediately!
'But why?'
Su Hao's brows furrowed.
CP concept stocks were currently booming, shattering the limits of every analyst's imagination.
Through this maneuver, Fang Huan Investment had made so much money that it could trigger trypophobia.
Moreover, CP's poll numbers were currently far ahead, making his election almost a certainty.
Yet, his intuition was screaming like a madman, urging him to liquidate his entire position and run, uprooting this money-making tree?
This is illogical!
“And the other one?” he asked in a deep voice.
“Yes, Chairman Su, this is the information you requested regarding all the concept stocks related to the Hillis concept.”
If his intuition told him to sell off CP concept stocks, logically there were two possibilities:
Either it meant CP had absolutely no interest in these related industries, or he was prepared to discard his campaign promises as worthless after taking office.
But the problem was, the signal wasn't pointing to one or a few stocks, but to all CP concept stocks!
This left only one explanation, an explanation enough to drive the entire Wall Street crazy:
The ultimate winner of this election wasn't CP at all!
But his opponent, Hillis!
But as Su Hao's fingers traced the documents on Hillis concept stocks, he found things even stranger.
These stocks were lifeless, most showing no reaction.
He patiently flipped through the pages one by one.
Occasionally, one or two stocks would emit a faint spark, then vanish, like the last breath of a dying person.
Eighty percent of the stocks were "corpses," and the remaining twenty percent were merely on the verge of collapse.
He looked up at his team:
"If Hillis wins the election, shouldn't all these stocks skyrocket like they've been injected with adrenaline?"
"Yes, Chairman Su. In fact, when she was leading in the polls, every single one of these stocks surged.
But now that the CP has overtaken her, the stock prices have plummeted."
"And what if Hillis wins again?"
"Then without a doubt, all related stocks will experience a collective, explosive surge, just like last time."
But Su Hao's intuition told him that only a small portion of these stocks would ultimately rise.
What...does that mean?
"Think about it, if the CP doesn't get elected, and most of these stocks don't rise, only a small portion does—what does that mean?"
The crowd exchanged bewildered glances; this riddle was far too difficult.
