Chapter 515: "Strings"
"What is she doing?"
The four assassins were about to rush forward when they saw the faint light emanating from Su Zhiwei, and they instinctively frowned.
In the void, the light swirled like a bubbling spring. In the microscopic world invisible to the naked eye, countless tiny "Strings" were vibrating at different frequencies. They constituted every particle in this world; they were everywhere.
And now, under Su Zhiwei’s "conducting," their frequencies were being altered bit by bit. From a macroscopic perspective, it was as if the fundamental composition of matter was changing. The air began to solidify, and a powerful gust of wind, centered on Su Zhiwei, began to spread in all directions!
The four assassins gripped their weapons, their clothes flapping in the howling wind. They instinctively tensed their bodies, and the next moment, the white-clad figure, swept along by the wind, flashed in front of them at high speed!
In the night rain, the light in Su Zhiwei’s pupils moved so fast it left trails. A heavy punch whistled into the chest of the lead assassin!
Thud—!!
Su Zhiwei’s movements were more than twice as fast as before. Even the battle-hardened assassin couldn't react in time; before his hands could block, his chest collapsed under the force of her punch!
A circular shockwave rippled out from the point of impact, tearing a gap in the relentless night rain. A mouthful of blood sprayed from the assassin’s throat, and he flew backward like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily to the ground.
Su Zhiwei looked at her palm, a flash of surprise deep in her eyes.
"Is this... the resonance of the 'Strings'?"
Unlike that night before, this time Su Zhiwei didn't try to force the performance of a massive amount of "Strings." Instead, she only tried to resonate with the "Strings" touching the surface of her skin—that is, the "air" itself.
With the total amount of "Strings" being conducted reduced, and being closer to her, this control was much smoother. She seemed to have grasped the trick to conducting the "Strings" bit by bit.
"All together!"
Su Zhiwei’s sudden strike shocked the other three assassins. They attacked in unison, wielding their weapons from three different directions, stabbing toward Su Zhiwei in the center!
A military dagger, a knife, and a short blade—three cold glints cut through the air, striking from extremely tricky angles!
Su Zhiwei saw this in her peripheral vision but didn't dodge immediately. Instead, she narrowed her eyes, focusing all her energy on mobilizing the "Strings" around her. The speed of synchronization was twice as fast as before!
Hum—!!
As the edges of the three weapons touched Su Zhiwei’s body, an eerie thing happened.
A mysterious "film" seemed to coat the surface of Su Zhiwei’s body. The moment the metal weapons touched it, the microscopic particles composing them began to uncontrollably transform into another type of particle. If one looked even closer, they would see the "Strings" composing these particles being assimilated into the same frequency as the "Strings" around Su Zhiwei...
The "Strings" were performing, and at the same time, the metal atoms were transforming into another substance...
That is, air.
The three weapons began to crumble and dissipate the moment they touched Su Zhiwei, like a toy made of fine sand hitting a wall, shattering and vanishing in mid-air.
The military dagger stabbed into Su Zhiwei’s body and was pulled out, leaving only a dark red mark that hadn't broken the skin, while the dagger itself was significantly shorter. The knife and short blade slashed through her uniform, their edges instantly becoming dull and smooth, completely losing their lethality.
This eerie scene left the three assassins frozen in place, staring blankly at their weapons, unable to understand what had happened.
The next moment, a gust of wind swept past. Su Zhiwei’s palm strike instantly knocked away the military dagger, then she kicked it several meters away, shattering glass as it flew into the corridor.
"Damn it, what the hell is that?!"
The other two assassins came to their senses and immediately retreated, trying to put distance between themselves and this "monster."
Her white uniform fluttered in the night rain. Su Zhiwei stepped into a puddle, and as the water droplets splashed, her figure crashed through the curtain of rain, pursuing the two assassins!
The roles of prey and hunter were reversed in an instant!
A ruthless look flashed in one assassin’s eyes. He reached into the lining of his clothes, and a grenade appeared in his palm.
"I don't believe this thing can't kill you!"
He bit off the safety pin and threw the grenade at Su Zhiwei with all his might!
In the dim courtyard, the black grenade tore through the rain, heading straight for Su Zhiwei’s face... Her pupils contracted sharply.
"Watch out!" Yao Qing’s cry rang out from the side.
It all happened too fast. Neither Su Zhiwei nor Yao Qing expected the enemy to have a grenade. Su Zhiwei had no time to dodge, so she steeled herself and grabbed the incoming grenade with her bare hands, her pupils erupting with blinding light!
Boom—!!
An earth-shattering explosion rang out!
Surging flames erupted in an instant, like a sun blooming in the dark night rain. The howling wind blew the surrounding willow trees into a frenzy. The two assassins stopped, joy appearing in their eyes.
No human could survive a grenade explosion at such close range... Su Zhiwei’s death was a certainty; they were the final victors.
However, before they could make another move, the smiles on their faces froze.
The sun of the grenade explosion suddenly began to churn violently. The raging flames seemed to be entangled and pulled by something, dancing wildly like pythons. At the same time, a figure walked slowly out of the fire...
Her white uniform was burned to tatters. An arm, scorched and covered in burn marks, slowly broke through the dancing flames. Su Zhiwei stepped into the puddles, wisps of white steam drifting from the corners of her mouth.
Her pupils reflected the surrounding flames and the high-frequency, manic "Sea of Strings." That was the essence of "fire," and also a hearty symphony.
"This is... the sonata of 'fire'."
As Su Zhiwei’s scorched hands suddenly clenched into fists, the dancing fire pythons intertwined around her. With a forceful step forward, the flames from the grenade explosion were instantly compressed, then "re-ignited" in front of Su Zhiwei!
A surging sea of fire swept across the rain curtain in an instant, swallowing the two shocked and terrified assassins.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
Two screams rang out in the night. They tried to flee in terror, but within a few breaths, they were burned to charcoal. After stumbling two steps, they collapsed with a thud, shattering into pieces.
The bodies of the four assassins lay scattered around the courtyard. Yao Qing, in the corner, watched the figure wreathed in flames, his mouth hanging open in disbelief...
The embers of the fire dissipated with a wave of Su Zhiwei’s hand. Two lines of blood flowed from her nostrils... Su Zhiwei turned her head to say something to Yao Qing in the corner, but the next moment, she closed her eyes and collapsed forward powerlessly.
