Chapter 506: Stealing the Home
Nie Yu slowly closed his eyes, the double pupils gradually fading. When he opened them again, they had returned to their original state.
"You found them just like that?" Vulture asked, surprised.
"I didn't expect that man in the brown coat to be able to fly." Nie Yu said in a low voice. "If the others hadn't been in a car, leaving traces on the road, it wouldn't have been easy to find him..."
"He can control electronic devices, change his face, and fly? What kind of background does this guy have?"
"I don't know."
"Then what do you plan to do next?"
"Chase him down and kill him." Nie Yu said without hesitation.
"What about the men I found for you?"
"I need them too... I need to deal with the man in the brown coat, so I need someone to kill Su Zhiwei. Have them follow me."
Vulture stuck his hand out of the car window and flicked the ash off his cigarette. "No problem, but let's be clear: the money must be paid upfront... And just like before, I'm only responsible for taking and issuing tasks for you; I won't show my face."
Nie Yu gave him a cold look, said nothing more, and walked straight ahead with his hunting rifle on his back.
"Go hide back in your cellar."
……
At the entrance of the Su residence.
A teenager wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie slowly stopped in front of the closed gate.
"There are no signs that the door has been opened... Either they haven't arrived yet, or they know it's already empty inside." Chen Ling glanced casually at the gap in the door and thought to himself.
It had been a long time since Nie Yu was arrested. Logically, with that guy's ability, he should have escaped long ago... So it could only be the latter.
When Chen Ling took Su Zhiwei and the others away, a group of assassins had chased after them. Although Chen Ling killed them all, according to the last two assassins, there was a guy behind them with the codename "Vulture" who worked specifically for Nie Yu... Nie Yu wouldn't have failed to search the Su residence without intelligence, so it was highly likely that he and Vulture had already linked up and knew that they had escaped.
"Now both sides are hiding in the shadows; it's just a matter of who finds whom first."
Chen Ling pondered for a moment, cleared up the general situation, and scanned his surroundings.
There were no high-rise buildings in the Gusu urban area. To monitor the Su residence, one couldn't be too far away, and there weren't many places to choose from... Soon, Chen Ling locked onto four of them and walked toward them with his hands in his hoodie pockets.
As he walked, Chen Ling opened his flip phone and pressed the dial button.
At the same time, all the surveillance cameras he passed were forcibly accessed, popping up one after another on his phone screen.
"Not this road... not this one either... this road is too narrow to park... then it must be..."
"Hmm?"
Chen Ling stopped in front of a low building.
In the footage displayed on his phone screen, a figure hurried out of the low building, dove into the passenger seat, seemed to say something, and the vehicle quickly drove out of the alley... Chen Ling recognized that person; on the highway, the guy had been shot by him before he could finish his sentence.
"So that's where you are..." Chen Ling's eyes brightened slightly.
He immediately pushed the surveillance footage back to an earlier time. About an hour before Chen Ling and the others arrived at the Su residence, this car had driven into the alley. There were three people in the car; besides the two Chen Ling had killed, there was another figure in a black uniform, looking like a bartender.
But when the two assassins drove off to track Chen Ling and the others, the bartender didn't go downstairs. Instead, about forty minutes later, he walked out alone and headed on foot toward a darker, more complex alleyway.
Chen Ling was 99% sure that this man was "Vulture."
Chen Ling slowly put down the flip phone, looked at the dark alley where Vulture had disappeared, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly:
"Looks like... I'm one step ahead."
……
More than an hour later.
Chen Ling put away his flip phone, squinting as he looked at the abandoned path leading underground.
This place looked like an electric scooter parking lot in some old district, but the surrounding houses had all been cleared out, and there were even huge "Demolish" characters printed on the walls, clearly abandoned for a long time.
Because it was an abandoned area, electronic surveillance coverage wasn't comprehensive. Once he went deep inside, Chen Ling couldn't rely on surveillance to track Vulture, and he had to search each fork in the road one by one... The good news was that there were no traces of Vulture emerging on the main road surveillance, so his hiding place must be in this abandoned area.
After searching here for a long time, the only place that could possibly hide people was this underground space.
Chen Ling walked down the stairs into the underground, the surrounding light quickly dimming, and a foul odor wafted up from the depths, like the musty smell of garbage that had been fermenting for a long time...
In the darkness, his eyes remained bright. He reached out and gripped the gun and boning knife in his pockets, his vigilance raised to the extreme.
Soon, a door covered in rust appeared before him...
Chen Ling tentatively reached out and grabbed the doorknob, applying a little force, and the door opened a crack; it didn't seem to be locked. As he gradually pushed the door open, a highly concealed underground tavern appeared before him.
Old floorboards, empty tables and chairs, dim neon signs... There was no one in sight, only cigarette butts and broken glass scattered across the floor, telling the story of what had once happened here.
Chen Ling walked slowly into the tavern, his brow furrowing involuntarily.
"No one... Did I arrive too late?"
Just as Chen Ling's heart sank, a sound of footsteps came from outside the door, as if someone were approaching through the underground passage.
Chen Ling immediately pulled the iron door shut again and looked out through the crack, discovering that the person coming was none other than Vulture, whom he had just seen on the surveillance.
Alone?
Chen Ling's brain raced.
As Vulture reached the door, a thought occurred to Chen Ling. He immediately reached for his chin and tore hard!
Creak—!
The old iron door opened, making a harsh sound.
Vulture walked into the tavern and was about to close the door behind him when he saw a familiar figure sitting at the bar, staring at him coldly.
Vulture froze on the spot.
"...You... why are you here?"
Black clothing draped over the edge of the barstool, "Nie Yu" toyed with the wine glass in his hand, his gaze as cold as a blade.
"Vulture, your vigilance is getting worse." "Nie Yu" said coldly. "You don't even lock the door when you go out? Are you afraid this place won't be exposed?"
"No one ever comes here, and there's nothing important..."
Vulture subconsciously began to explain, but then he realized something and immediately asked back, "Didn't you follow the clues to hunt down Su Zhiwei and the others?"
Hearing this, Chen Ling's heart skipped a beat.
Hunting down Su Zhiwei? He had already eliminated all the surveillance eyes; did Nie Yu still have a way to track them?
"Nie Yu" didn't speak. He slowly placed the wine glass on the table, and after a long time, he said in a low voice:
"...I failed."
