Chapter 489: The Hunter
"Name."
In the dim interrogation room, two police officers sat at the table, one recording with a pen, the other looking coldly at Nie Yu in the cell.
After a brief silence, one officer tapped the table twice with his pen, his voice incredibly stern:
"Name!"
"Don't you have my file? Why ask?" Nie Yu said calmly.
"A file is a file, an interrogation is an interrogation. No matter who you were, please cooperate with our work now." The officer paused for a moment. "Name!"
"...Nie Yu."
"Nie Yu, former member of the Thorn Special Forces, defected abroad six years ago... Where have you been these six years? What have you been doing?"
"In the Golden Triangle, working as a mercenary."
"Why did you defect?"
Hearing this question, Nie Yu’s brows furrowed tightly. He stared coldly at the two people outside the cell, seemingly losing patience...
"I don't want to repeat what’s written in the file."
The officer in charge of the interrogation’s face darkened, but he didn't lash out. His gaze fell on the next page of the file, and he fell silent.
A long time later, he spoke, "This file says your wife and mother went missing while traveling in Thailand. You left the special forces without notice and smuggled yourself abroad just to find them? Why didn't you apply for international police intervention?"
"International police?" Nie Yu sneered.
"You think they didn't mobilize? But was it useful?
That’s Thailand! That’s the Golden Triangle!! In such a wild and chaotic place, once you’re targeted by the local warlords, even if you had three heads and six arms, you’d be dismantled on the spot and sold across the ocean the next day... How many people who go missing there are ever found?
They searched for a whole week and didn't even find a shadow... Since they couldn't find them, I had to find them myself.
To others, they might just be one of the many missing people, but to me? That was my wife who was willing to endure loneliness for my special forces career, and my mother who raised me with her own hands!!"
Nie Yu’s shackled hands slammed heavily onto the metal table, making a dull "thud." His eyes were filled with anger and killing intent.
"So no matter the cost, I had to find them back... Dead or alive."
I don't know how much time passed before the officer spoke again, his voice softer than before:
"It says here that after you defected, you hunted in the Golden Triangle for fifteen days with one gun, without sleep or rest... Did you find them?"
"...I found them."
Nie Yu’s emotions gradually calmed, and he spoke as if devoid of feeling. "One was stuffed into a vase, and the other was thrown into an underground brothel. When I found them, they were already dead."
The air fell into a brief silence.
"So, these past few years..."
"I’ve been killing," Nie Yu said calmly. "As long as someone pays, as long as they are from the Golden Triangle, I can kill anyone, regardless of faction, regardless of affiliation, regardless of skin color..."
"What’s the point of that?"
"The Golden Triangle shouldn't exist at all... No, 'national borders' shouldn't exist at all. Humanity should follow only one order. If you commit a crime, you should receive a unified punishment, not have everything wiped clean just because you crossed a border line."
"You mean, world unification?"
The officer shook his head. "That’s too sci-fi. You should know that the world doesn't work that way..."
Nie Yu didn't speak. He just sat quietly in the cell, smiling with disdain and indifference.
"Back to the point... Why did you hijack the plane?"
"Damn it, I said I didn't hijack the plane!!"
In Nie Yu’s mind, the image of that mysterious young man in the seat next to him appeared... He remembered clearly that he was the only one who went to the restroom halfway and didn't return until just before landing. If anyone had hijacked the plane, it could only be him.
In the years Nie Yu had been a mercenary, it wasn't like he hadn't seen people with extraordinary powers like himself, but the other party could not only transform into him, but also tamper with surveillance footage and plant a handgun in his pocket from a distance... He had never heard of such strange methods.
"It seems you still don't want to cooperate."
The two officers checked the time and picked up their paper and pens to walk out the door. "Think about it carefully. Higher-level personnel will come to interrogate you later... until you tell us everything."
*Bang—*
As the interrogation room door closed, dead silence returned to the cell.
Nie Yu sat in the chair wrapped in chains, his eyes narrowed as he looked at the clock on the wall...
He snorted coldly, and with a gentle exertion of his hands, the sturdy, heavy shackles snapped like paper in his hands, falling to the ground with a dull "thud."
"I don't have time to waste here."
Nie Yu tore off all the chains with his bare hands and walked slowly to the wall of the cell, cracking his knuckles... His eyes flashed with the sharpness and coldness of a wolf king.
The next moment, he clenched his right fist and smashed it toward the thick wall with a roar!!
*Boom—!!*
With one punch, the thick wall was easily blasted open, creating a large hole. The exterior of the building was breached, and the biting wind from the fifth floor swept into the interrogation room, blowing Nie Yu’s clothes.
This sudden loud noise instantly attracted the attention of other police officers in the building. Chaos erupted outside the corridor, and it seemed a group of people was approaching.
Nie Yu remained unmoved, standing before the broken hole. In his cold wolf eyes, the whitening sky and the young face that had smiled brilliantly on the plane were reflected.
"Don't let me meet you again," Nie Yu said grimly. "Otherwise, I will hunt you... until death."
Nie Yu tapped his toes and leaped from the fifth floor in his black clothes.
Seconds later, many police officers pushed open the door to the interrogation room, saw the hole through the wall, and froze in place, their eyes filled with disbelief.
"This... how was this done? Explosives?"
"Impossible, we already searched him. There’s no way he could have had explosives on him."
"And this is the fifth floor, he just jumped down like that?"
"Quick, issue a wanted notice! Mobilize everyone in the bureau, seal off all entry and exit points of Jingnan City, we must find him!"
"Also... apply to the higher-ups for heavy armed support. This Nie Yu is not simple."
……
"Old Chen, help me hire some people near Gusu." In a dim alley, Nie Yu took a phone from a passerby who had fallen unconscious and dialed a number.
“……”
"Yes, I’m going to kill someone in Gusu, but I’ve run into some trouble... I need you to keep an eye on her."
“……”
"The more people, the better. The better the weapons, the better. I’m worried someone might jump in halfway to stir things up."
“……”
Nie Yu said calmly, "Don't worry, you’ll get your money... I have plenty of money now."
……
