Chapter 237: The Spade Has Arrived

"This..."
The defense attorney rubbed his eyes and looked up at Fang Lichang in bewilderment, suspecting that the Prosecutor was playing a prank on them.
But when he looked up, he found that Fang Lichang’s expression was even uglier than his own.
"This is the top-tier cuisine??" Old Man Ding’s eyes widened. He grabbed a few playing cards to examine them closely, and even shoved one into his mouth... then spat it out forcefully.
"You can't even eat this stuff!"
On stage,
Fang Lichang looked at the [Spade 6] card faces, and as if something had occurred to him, his pupils constricted slightly.
He then shouted in a deep voice:
"What is going on? Where is the food??"
"This... we don't know either." The waiters were also completely bewildered. "When we were preparing the food in the kitchen, these were normal dishes... how did they turn into playing cards by the time they got here?"
"I am so sorry! We will go and remake them for you right away!" The head waiter reacted the fastest, apologizing immediately before pushing the carts away from the banquet hall in a hurry.
The crowd watched the [Spade 6] carts being pushed away, their expressions varied as they began to whisper:
"What’s going on? Is it an accident?"
"An accident? Who would mix up a tray of playing cards with food? And for so many dishes at that?"
"The most critical part is the face of those playing cards..."
"[Spade 6]... how could this be?"
“……”
"Alright! It seems to be the hotel’s negligence. Everyone, please don't take it to heart." Sensing the subtle shift in atmosphere, Fang Lichang immediately raised his glass again and said a few words, trying to draw everyone’s attention back.
Chen Ling leaned against a wine table where no one was paying attention, his face expressionless as he went along with Fang Lichang’s words: raising his glass, drinking, and putting it down...
A few minutes later, the waiters pushed the carts back in, sweating profusely.
"Sorry, gentlemen, this time it’s for real."
To ensure no accidents occurred this time, the waiters had checked in the kitchen, and checked again before entering the hall. There was absolutely no way anything could go wrong. They pushed the carts to the center of the stage and looked at Fang Lichang.
Fang Lichang glanced at the carts, a smile forced onto his lips. "Alright, let us raise our glasses once more to a successful verdict."
Chen Ling smiled and raised his glass. At the same time, his right hand, tucked in his pocket, gave a slight flick, and a metal shard silently replaced the light switch.
Snap—!
Just as the waiters opened the metal covers, the bright electric lights short-circuited and exploded. After a crisp bang, the entire hall plunged into darkness!
Pale candles surrounded the crowd, their flickering light reflecting off the slowly rising metal covers. Before the crowd could recover from the shock of the lights failing, someone saw what was on the plates by the dim candlelight, and their pupils suddenly constricted!
"[Spade 6]... it’s [Spade 6] again!!!"
The crowd was terrified. On the plates were the same playing cards as before, piled so high they were almost overflowing!
If the first time they saw the cards, they were only suspicious and fearful, the second time completely shattered their remaining hope. Combined with the sudden blackout, an extremely eerie atmosphere began to spread across the top floor!
"Are you deliberately messing with me??!" Fang Lichang’s face was livid. He glared at the waiters, and a murderous intent quickly spread.
The waiters were completely stunned. They stumbled backward as if they had seen a ghost, tripping over a foot that had been stuck out, and landed on their backs. "Impossible... it’s impossible!! We checked one last time before opening the door! How did it change again... Is there a ghost? There’s a ghost!!"
The dim candlelight flickered in the vast hall, illuminating only a small area. Everything else was pitch black, as if hiding man-eating monsters... In such an atmosphere, everyone’s heart was in their throat, and a trembling voice rang out:
"It’s [Spade 6]... He must know we’re using his name, so he’s come to cause us trouble!!"
"He’s right here! He’s taking revenge on us!!"
"Did we really provoke the madmen of the Twilight Society??! They’re a bunch of perverted demons! Who knows what he’ll do?!"
"Should we notify the Enforcers? Let them come and make an arrest?"
"Are you crazy? We just testified in court that Han Meng is [Spade 6], and he’s still locked in the Black Prison! Going to the Enforcers now would be a slap in our own faces!!"
"Shut up, all of you!!"
Fang Lichang’s voice instantly drowned out everyone else. He scanned the entire dark banquet hall with a grim gaze. "Playing god..."
Fang Lichang was a Fourth-Order powerhouse, which was how he became a prosecutor. He unleashed his pressure, enveloping the entire hall... but even so, apart from the attendees, the darkness remained empty.
"No one?" Fang Lichang frowned. "Where exactly is he hiding?"
"He... he’s an invisible ghost!" A reporter recalled Chen Ling’s description and spoke in terror. "He’s right here, we just can’t see him?"
Fang Lichang snorted coldly. Just as he was about to say something else, another reporter suddenly raised a hand!
"Outside the window... there’s a black shadow outside the window!"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone turned to look. Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling window standing high above, a black afterimage flashed by.
"Trying to run?" Seeing that he had finally found the person behind the scenes, a ruthless glint flashed in Fang Lichang’s eyes. His figure flickered as he chased after it at high speed. As the window shattered with a boom, his figure disappeared into the night in the blink of an eye.
With Fang Lichang’s departure, a howling cold wind swept in through the broken window, blowing out all the dim candles, and the banquet hall fell into deathly silence once again.
Old Man Ding and the group of reporters and lawyers stood in the dark, cold wind, looking at each other.
I don't know how much time passed, but a voice suddenly rang out.
"The Prosecutor is gone, and now it’s just us left here."
*Clust—*
Chen Ling used a match to light a pale candle. The flickering light illuminated half of his face, and a faint, imperceptible smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
"I hope he doesn't run into any accidents... what do you think?"
The cold wind picked up the many playing cards, and countless [Spade 6] cards swirled in the hall with the wind, as if countless ghosts were dancing, or as if an invisible hand was playfully manipulating everything here...
