Chapter 1545: Chen Ling’s Wrath
Wuji Jun walked with Chen Ling for two hours.
Along the way, almost every resident who saw Wuji Jun greeted him warmly. They seemed to have forgotten the news they had heard and seen—that Wuji Jun, who had once slaughtered people in the Red Dust Realm like cutting grass, had become the beloved guardian deity of everyone here.
Bang—
As the two were walking, several children dashed out from an alleyway, chasing each other.
The leading child didn't seem to notice the two people ahead and slammed into a mass of red robes. The force was like hitting a wall of steel, and he fell straight onto his backside.
Chen Ling and Wuji Jun stopped at the same time.
The child was a bit dazed by the collision. He looked blankly at the two people in front of him. As those eyes, shimmering with a faint ruby-like glow, looked down at him, his mind went blank, and he couldn't say a word.
Chen Ling walked forward slowly and leaned down, his translucent red earrings swaying gently.
"Child, are you hurt?" he asked softly.
The child was stunned for a moment.
"N-no."
Just as Chen Ling was about to say something more, a woman ran over as if she had lost her mind. She scooped up the child who had fallen to the ground and, trembling, bowed repeatedly to Chen Ling in apology:
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry... My child bumped into you! Please, show mercy and let him go!"
"Lord Wuji Jun... My Lord, my child really didn't mean it, this..."
The woman’s voice trembled incessantly, filled with fear. She didn't even dare to look directly at Chen Ling, instead looking toward Wuji Jun like a drowning person grasping at a straw, praying that Wuji Jun could save her child from Chen Ling’s hands.
Wuji Jun remained unmoved; he simply watched Chen Ling quietly.
"It's fine."
Chen Ling took a deep look at the mother and child and waved his hand dismissively. "You may go."
With that, he walked forward without looking back.
Only then did the woman’s tense body finally relax, her forehead covered in the cold sweat of someone who had narrowly escaped death.
She slapped the child on the head hard:
"You child! You really have a death wish. Of all the people to bump into, you had to bump into him... Do you have any idea who he is?!"
The child remained stiff in his mother’s arms, his eyes hollow. Even though Chen Ling had already turned and left, those ruby-like eyes remained branded deep in his mind, impossible to shake off.
The subsequent string of scolding fell on deaf ears... and the departing Chen Ling had no interest in listening.
"Why didn't you dodge just now?" Wuji Jun asked suddenly.
With Chen Ling’s current strength, how could he not have sensed a child running around? How could he not have avoided him?
Chen Ling smiled slightly and countered:
"Why should I have dodged?"
Wuji Jun didn't seem to expect such a forceful answer from Chen Ling, but upon reflection, it made sense. Chen Ling was now the Calamity of Mockery, the Red King of the Twilight Society, and the Master of the Abyss of Mockery—why would he need to dodge a child?
Wuji Jun pointed ahead:
"The Eternal Palace is just ahead. Your subordinates should be waiting for you."
Chen Ling looked forward. A white building stood in the center of the Eternal Realm, but unlike the other shimmering, uniquely shaped structures, this so-called Eternal Palace looked too understated—one might even say plain.
At this moment, on the steps in front of the Eternal Palace, numerous knights were lined up in two rows, as if welcoming the arrival of the two. At the center of the very back, a figure wearing a silver-embroidered long gown and gold-rimmed glasses was waiting quietly.
Beyond that, it seemed many citizens had heard that Wuji Jun had invited a distinguished guest to the Eternal Realm and had flocked to the surroundings of the Eternal Palace, looking curiously in this direction to see who this "distinguished guest" really was...
However, when they saw the red-robed actor walking toward them, they were first stunned, whispered among themselves for a moment, and then their expressions changed drastically!
Chen Ling ignored their fearful and wary gazes and walked straight up the steps to stand before Diamond 8.
"Diamond 8, Mo Yao, greets the Red King." Seeing Chen Ling arrive, Mo Yao immediately bowed.
Chen Ling was about to say something when his eyes caught the faint bruise on Mo Yao’s body, and his brow furrowed instantly.
During their communication through the Thought Storm, Mo Yao had only sent his thoughts; Chen Ling hadn't seen the injuries on his body, and Mo Yao hadn't mentioned them... But who was Chen Ling? One look was enough to tell that this was definitely not a bruise from a fall, but a mark left by someone hitting him with force!
In the next second, a suffocating aura of world-ending destruction surged from his body!!
Hum—!!
Amidst a low roar, the expressions of all the knights and citizens nearby changed. It felt as if a great mountain were pressing down on their hearts, leaving them unable to breathe... At the same time, a murderous and tyrannical intent drifted from the red-robed figure on the steps!
The figure in the theatrical robes turned slowly, those scarlet eyes locking directly onto Wuji Jun, who was walking behind him.
"Lou Yu... You had better give me an explanation."
Chen Ling’s tone was as cold as frost.
Seeing this, Wuji Jun sighed inwardly. After a moment of silence, he spoke truthfully:
"It was my people who hit him..."
The red-bottomed, black-patterned theatrical robes fluttered without wind. Chen Ling walked back down the steps, step by step, a bone-carving knife appearing in his palm. He looked down from above, his ruby-like translucent eyes resembling those of an extremely dangerous beast...
"You told me you would 'treat him well,'" Chen Ling said, enunciating every word.
"I did... but there were a few subordinates who refused to be managed," Wuji Jun added. "Later, I crushed his head with my own hands."
Whoosh—!!!
As soon as Wuji Jun finished speaking, a sharp slash from the bone-carving knife flashed across his body, the air itself being sliced apart with a sharp, explosive sound!
The knights and residents, stunned by the aura, covered their ears in terror. The next second, they saw a deep trench carved into the street directly facing the Eternal Palace, and the flames hanging on the walls on both sides were swept up by the shockwave and instantly extinguished!
In an instant, the once-radiant street turned into a path of dead silence plunged into darkness.
At the end of the darkness, Chen Ling stood still before Wuji Jun, holding the knife in one hand...
"You, the dignified Wuji Jun... can't even manage your own subordinates?"
Chen Ling’s voice sounded as if it came from the netherworld.
"Lord Red King... this injury really has nothing to do with Wuji Jun," Mo Yao’s voice came from behind.
Although he was a member of the Twilight Society, Mo Yao had his own sense of judgment. While he had suspected whether the knight hitting him was at Wuji Jun’s instruction, upon reflection, Wuji Jun had no reason to do so...
Furthermore, he had promised to help Wuji Jun explain the situation, so he naturally couldn't go back on his word.
Hearing Mo Yao’s voice from behind, Chen Ling’s gloomy expression softened slightly... He looked at Wuji Jun before him and spoke slowly:
"I don't care if you did it on purpose or by accident..."
"You hit my person, and you need to provide an explanation."
