Chapter 1541: "Eternity" Among the Clouds
"Shi Rui," Wuji Jun said calmly.
The armored man replied:
"Here."
"What’s with the injuries on him?"
Hearing this, Shi Rui’s body trembled slightly, seemingly not expecting Wuji Jun to be able to identify the injuries on Mo Yao from such a distance... He was somewhat flustered for a moment.
"It... it was a fall!"
Wuji Jun stepped down from the field ridge, his ink-black robe brushing silently against the obsidian floor. His pace was slow, yet he felt like a Mount Tai pressing down, the aura he exuded with every movement making it almost impossible to breathe.
Wuji Jun stopped in front of Mo Yao.
"...Is that so?"
He asked calmly.
Mo Yao said nothing.
Shi Rui’s forehead began to break out in cold sweat. He immediately changed his story and answered truthfully:
"It... it was me... I tried to persuade him nicely for so many days to help us send a few letters, but not only did he not cooperate, he insulted us... Lord Wuji Jun, I really couldn't hold back my anger! We treat him so well in the Eternal Realm, yet he doesn't know how to be grateful..."
*Slap—!!!*
Before Shi Rui could finish, his imposing and hard metal helmet twisted out of thin air like dough, directly crushing his head!
Splattered blood and brains covered the floor, some even splashing onto Mo Yao’s clean gown. Mo Yao was slightly taken aback; he hadn't expected Wuji Jun to be so decisive, not even waiting for the man to finish speaking before blowing his subordinate’s head off...
Wuji Jun raised his hand and patted Mo Yao’s gown gently. The foul-smelling bloodstains instantly turned into droplets of crystalline dew, rolling silently to the ground.
Mo Yao’s gown was clean once more.
"I am truly sorry, Mr. Mo," Wuji Jun said calmly. "You have been wronged."
"I’m alright... but, he was your subordinate after all. Is it really okay to kill him so brutally?"
"Without rules, there is no order. In the Eternal Realm, especially as my subordinate... one must lead by example." Wuji Jun paused for a moment. "The current Red King of your Dusk Agency once questioned me on how I ensure that I keep my original intention unchanged throughout the long years of the future... I think I will give him a satisfactory answer."
Mo Yao fell into silence.
"So, you brought me here because..."
"According to the time agreed upon in that letter, he will step into the Eternal Realm tonight." Wuji Jun raised his hand gently, and a tea table reconstructed itself from the obsidian floor. He sat down slowly.
"You are his member, so naturally, you must welcome him together... You are also part of the 'goodwill' that our Eternal Realm is expressing to him."
Mo Yao understood.
After receiving that letter, the Red King would definitely think Wuji Jun had kidnapped him and would therefore come to the Eternal Realm with hostility... So Wuji Jun had to bring him along—intact, well-fed, and well-clothed—to show that he hadn't abused a Dusk Agency member.
Wuji Jun truly didn't want to be hostile toward Chen Ling.
But Shi Rui’s reckless actions had added a few wounds to Mo Yao, directly ruining Wuji Jun’s plan. Wuji Jun crushing his head was only natural.
"Mr. Mo, I truly didn't know about Shi Rui’s actions... When the time comes, please explain it clearly to the Red King."
"...I will tell him the truth."
"Thank you." Wuji Jun nodded. "Then Mr. Mo, please go to the room next door to rest. When the time of the half-moon arrives, I will come to invite you."
Mo Yao nodded and was about to turn and leave...
Suddenly,
He turned back and asked out of the blue:
"Mr. Lou, your complexion seems a bit poor lately? Is there something on your mind?"
Wuji Jun frowned subconsciously, then chuckled, "This body of mine isn't made of flesh and blood at all. How can you see a change in 'complexion'?"
"I write letters for others; my specialty is capturing people’s emotions and injecting them into the letters... Even if I can't see the complexion clearly, I can detect some subtle changes." Mo Yao’s gold-rimmed glasses reflected a glimmer, and he said with certainty, "You are under a lot of pressure lately."
"That is not something Mr. Mo needs to worry about."
Wuji Jun waved his hand.
Mo Yao didn't say anything more, stepping over Shi Rui’s remains and walking straight out.
When the door closed again, Wuji Jun looked once more in the direction Mo Yao had left, then turned and returned to the chaotic field ridge...
This Lord of the Eternal Realm, the God of Materials Science with the ability of eternal life, squatted down without any regard for his image, digging a withered yellow vegetable leaf out of the mud with his bare hands... He stared at the leaf in his hand as if he were admiring the rarest jewel in the world.
"It should... be successful soon," he muttered to himself.
……
An opera robe moved silently through the desolate Grey Realm.
It was already night, and thick clouds obscured the sky. This desolate land was pitch black. In this oppressive darkness, massive centipedes, like earth dragons, traveled beneath the ground.
Chen Ling walked on the surface, while they traveled underground. Beneath the silent earth, a disaster carnival belonging to the Ghost-Mocking Abyss was taking place.
"I told some of you to follow me, who told you all to come?"
Chen Ling sighed helplessly.
Thick clouds drifted slowly. Through the faint gaps in the clouds, one could see a half-moon hanging in the sky, like a disc cut in half from the center, neat and uniform.
Chen Ling looked up at the sky and muttered to himself:
"It’s about time..."
But where exactly was the Eternal Realm?
Chen Ling was already near the Ghost-Mocking Abyss, and the time was indeed the half-moon, but as far as the eye could see, there didn't seem to be any sign of a flying realm... One had to know that the Eternal Realm was massive; it was impossible that he couldn't even see a corner of such a thing flying in the sky.
Just then, Chen Ling seemed to discover something. His eyes narrowed into slits as he looked carefully above the clouds.
At the intersection of the half-moon and the clouds, in that seemingly empty void, the light began to distort, just like a lens transforming into a solid object. The outline of a massive realm actually appeared from the void!
Chen Ling had the Secret Pupil, so he could vaguely see the disharmonious anomaly in that part of the sky, but the moment the thing truly appeared, he was still taken aback.
The Eternal Realm could actually turn invisible?
No...
Was it Wuji Jun who turned the bottom of the Eternal Realm into some kind of stealth material?
Chen Ling realized that his understanding of Wuji Jun’s methods was still too shallow. At this stage of civilizational regression, humanity couldn't use industrial means to manufacture those high-end materials, but Lou Yu could transform and fabricate them directly with his own power... Even at the peak of human industry, such stealth materials had never been researched!
The dream kingdom above the clouds appeared bit by bit before Chen Ling’s eyes. With bursts of low rumbling, it moved closer and closer to the earth...
"Is this... the 'Eternity' you created?"
