Chapter 1507: Giving You a Chance
Under Chu Muyun’s torture, Chu Wenbin’s ghost let out shrill, piercing wails that echoed through the dark ghost city, making one’s scalp tingle.
"I... I... I was wrong... I shouldn't have used you for experiments... Muyun, let me go..."
Intermittent pleas for mercy came from Chu Wenbin’s ghost. He had lost all the demeanor of a "miracle doctor," wriggling like a maggot under the scalpel.
"I don't need your apology!" Chu Muyun roared, the scalpel stabbing deeper into the ghost’s body.
"I... just want an explanation!"
Chu Wenbin’s wails became even more heart-wrenching.
"Because... because you were the child that bitch had with some wild man outside! You’re nothing but a bastard!!"
Hearing this, Chu Muyun’s pupils contracted slightly, and he froze in place.
"You... what did you say?"
"That bitch of a mother of yours was secretly hooking up with a wild man behind my back... I wanted to kill them, but that wild man was too strong, and I had no chance... So, I developed a virus."
"I infected them with this virus, and they died of illness a few days later. But I didn't expect the virus’s spread to far exceed my imagination. After killing that pair of adulterers, it actually started spreading among the public!"
"Ordinary doctors were helpless against this virus, but I knew what it was! So I started trying to develop a miracle drug... and then, I thought of you!"
"That pair of adulterers was already dead, but you, that bastard, were still alive. Every time I saw your face, my teeth would itch with hatred..."
"So, I started using you for experiments..."
Chu Muyun stared blankly at Chu Wenbin’s blurred face, standing as still as a statue.
Over the past years, Chu Muyun had imagined countless possibilities.
For example, perhaps he had some congenital disease, and Chu Wenbin chose to experiment on him to find a cure; or perhaps Chu Wenbin was just an unskilled doctor who never imagined what consequences his experiments would have on him...
He had thought of all sorts of reasons to explain why a father would treat his own child this way, but he never imagined that he wasn't Chu Wenbin’s biological son at all, and that he had done those things to him purely out of hatred!
Even the plague that swept through the Infinite Realm and killed countless people was something he had created himself!!
He developed a virus, killed so many people, and yet was later revered as a miracle doctor?!
"You..." Chu Muyun took a long time before spitting out five words:
"You really are a beast!!"
Chu Muyun’s eyes were bloodshot. The hatred suppressed in his heart for all these years seemed to have finally found an outlet. The scalpel stabbed crazily into Chu Wenbin’s body, each strike sinking deep to the hilt.
Under this vengeful blade work, Chu Wenbin’s ghost was tortured to the point of near-collapse. Agony filled his mind; any torture in the world of the living was like child's play compared to the pain he was feeling now.
Shrill wails echoed through the ghost city, and cracks began to spread across the surface of Chu Wenbin’s ghost, as if he were about to be stabbed into oblivion by Chu Muyun!
Suxi, outside the door, seemed to sense something. His expression changed, and he raised his hand to grab into the void...
It didn't matter if Chu Muyun tortured that ghost; no matter how much he beat him, it wouldn't affect anything. But if a ghost were to vanish into thin air right before his eyes, that would be a serious dereliction of his duty as a special envoy. He couldn't sit by and watch that happen.
But the next second, the chains wrapped around him tightened suddenly, directly interrupting Suxi’s movement. The pain of the curse made him unable to control himself, clutching his head and struggling!
"Erasing a soul in the Ancient Ghost Path Treasury... you will face the retribution of the Ghost Path!!" Suxi threatened through gritted teeth.
"...Oh."
Jiang Xiaohua responded absent-mindedly, his gaze fixed on the house in the darkness. "If it wants revenge, let it come... I'll bear this Karma alone."
Back then, he had beaten Chu Muyun to the punch and killed Chu Wenbin’s physical body, letting Chu Muyun’s trauma fester for so many years. Since that was the case, let Chu Muyun erase Chu Wenbin’s soul... as compensation.
Inside the house.
As Chu Muyun stabbed deep into the ghost’s body once more, dense cracks had spread like a spiderweb across Chu Wenbin’s entire body, as if one more strike from Chu Muyun would cause him to vanish into oblivion on the spot!
"Let me go... Muyun... I beg you, let me go!" Chu Wenbin had almost lost his human form by now, begging bitterly.
Chu Muyun held the scalpel with an expressionless face.
A moment later,
He spoke slowly:
"As long as you cooperate, I can give you a chance."
A glimmer of hope for survival reignited in Chu Wenbin’s painful eyes. He grabbed onto it like a straw, speaking immediately:
"What do you need me to do? Muyun, I'll do whatever you need!"
Chu Muyun looked into his eyes and spoke word by word:
"Tell me... the method for developing a miracle drug for the plague using human experiments."
Chu Wenbin was stunned.
He didn't seem to expect Chu Muyun to make this request. He stared blankly at Chu Muyun for a long time, then suddenly started laughing:
"So that's it! Hahahaha... Muyun, you truly are the child I raised myself. I knew it, we are the same kind of people!!
Human experimentation and all that shouldn't be demonized. As long as you sacrifice the lives of some unimportant people, you can become a savior in the eyes of the world. There’s nothing easier to succeed at in this world, is there??"
Chu Muyun’s gaze was as deep as a winter lake. He just watched Chu Wenbin quietly...
The latter, as if realizing something, stopped talking nonsense and laid out the detailed method of combining "witchcraft" and "medicine." Chu Wenbin was also on the Path of the Medical God, not the Path of the Witch God, so this process didn't require the blessing of dual paths. After all, there were many items in this world carrying witch power; one just needed to introduce the curse into the body.
After listening, Chu Muyun nodded slightly.
"Very good..."
"I said, as long as you cooperate, I will give you a chance... I won't go back on my word."
Chu Muyun raised his left hand, picked up the tattered rattle from the table, and took a piece of candy from his pocket with his right hand, holding both out before his "father."
"The rattle and the candy—which one do I like?"
"Answer correctly, and I'll let you live... Answer incorrectly, and I'll kill you."
Chu Wenbin’s expression turned incredibly ugly.
His gaze wandered back and forth between the two items, seemingly struggling... How would he know what this bastard liked? But at this point, he could only gamble.
He tentatively reached out and pointed to the candy in Chu Muyun’s right hand.
"I know you love candy."
Chu Muyun smiled:
"Unfortunately... I don't like either."
*Pfft—!!*
The next second, the scalpel stabbed into Chu Wenbin’s glabella like lightning.
