Chapter 1352: Mold
The body of this centipede was even larger than the previous centipede poison lord. Most of its body was black, with only the head and the ends of its legs flashing scarlet. As it swayed and crawled out from the bottom of the abyss, a powerful pressure swept across the surroundings!
Eighth-rank poison lord!
Feeling the aura on Wu Yi, a hint of approval flashed in Chen Ling’s eyes.
Wu Yi had done even better than he had imagined. Not only had it fought its way out to become a poison lord with a seventh-rank status, but it had also survived a desperate situation and leaped to become the undisputed leader of the centipede tribe.
This was perhaps the fastest-progressing and youngest centipede poison lord in the history of the Ghost-Mockery Abyss... While Chen Ling’s injection of Red Star Wish Power was a factor, its own effort, determination, and ruthlessness were also significant parts.
As Wu Yi emerged, all the surrounding centipedes bowed in worship, as if congratulating the birth of a new eighth-rank.
The reborn Wu Yi danced happily in the air like a black and red ribbon, wandering over the abyss. Combined with the misty poison fog it often emitted, it looked from afar like a dragon that had leaped over the Dragon Gate and was traveling through the clouds.
"Fortunately, the Ghost-Mockery Abyss doesn't participate in attacking the human domains," Jian Changsheng couldn't help but sigh. "Just this one eighth-rank could sweep through half a domain..."
Jian Changsheng was also a man who had seen the world, whether it was the destruction of the Aurora Domain, the catastrophe of the Red Dust Domain, or the recent brutal war in the Xuanyu Domain. But the eighth-rank Calamities he had seen were far less powerful than the poison lords of the Ghost-Mockery Abyss.
Not to mention anything else, even if Tianhuai, the strongest combat power in the Xuanyu Domain, were to face this centipede, the chances of winning probably wouldn't be high... And the Ghost-Mockery Abyss had more than one such poison lord.
After Wu Yi finished exercising its brand-new body in the sky, it quickly descended to the bottom of the abyss and crawled respectfully in front of Chen Ling, like a child who had done well on a test and was showing off their report card to their parents.
"You did well, Wu Yi." Chen Ling reached out and touched its head.
Wu Yi let out a joyful hiss.
Chen Ling walked straight onto Wu Yi’s back and whispered something to it. The latter nodded immediately, its body rising from the ground as if intending to leave the Ghost-Mockery Abyss directly.
"Red Heart, where are you going?" Jian Changsheng asked in confusion.
"There should be something hidden behind the Ghost-Mockery Abyss... I'm going to go find it."
Chen Ling always remembered the location of the Silent Angel marked on the stone tablet of the Jiangtian Sect. He hadn't taken action all these days, partly because he had to entertain Jian Changsheng and the others, and partly because he wasn't sure if there would be danger there. Now that Wu Yi had emerged and the eighth-rank poison lords of the Ghost-Mockery Abyss were back to five, it was time to go see what was hidden behind the Ghost-Mockery Abyss.
"Can we follow?" Jian Changsheng blinked.
Chen Ling hesitated, "I don't know, there might be danger there..."
"Then just bring Diamond! Whether there's danger or not, he can tell at a glance."
Before Jian Changsheng could finish his sentence, he saw Sun Bumian clutching his forehead and grinning as he walked out of the palace...
"Diamond, what's wrong with you?"
Sun Bumian held it in for a long time before answering truthfully: "When I opened the door after using the bathroom, I slipped for no reason and hit my head on the door frame."
"You can hit your head on the door frame just by using the bathroom?" Jian Changsheng was stunned. "Your luck is on par with mine?"
Sun Bumian didn't answer, only looking at Chen Ling on Wu Yi’s head out of the corner of his eye.
Chen Ling lowered his head, falling into silence...
"I'd better go by myself," Chen Ling said suddenly. "That place probably isn't easy to find. I'll likely return empty-handed this time, so you guys should wait for me here."
Although Jian Changsheng really wanted to go out and play, this was Chen Ling’s territory after all. Since Chen Ling said he was going alone, he naturally wouldn't force it.
As Chen Ling patted Wu Yi on the head, the black and red centipede carried Chen Ling into the air and crawled directly toward the cliff!
After Chen Ling was far away, Sun Bumian finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"What happened to your hand?" Sun Bumian asked, raising an eyebrow as he saw the bloodstain on Jian Changsheng’s hand.
Jian Changsheng shrugged and recounted what had just happened. Sun Bumian’s expression became a bit strange...
"Just a small injury, it's nothing."
Jian Changsheng didn't care at all.
Sun Bumian hesitated for a long time before saying one more thing to him: "Don't run around during this time, and be careful when you do things... don't be reckless... otherwise, next time it won't be just a small injury."
"Ah? What do you mean?"
Sun Bumian didn't say anything more, but turned and walked straight toward the underground palace.
"You're leaving just like that? Why don't the three of us play Fight the Landlord?" Jian Changsheng called out.
"Not playing," Sun Bumian waved his hand without looking back.
"I need to go back and catch up on sleep."
……
The giant black and red centipede sped along the gray earth, the bright red opera robe dancing in the wind.
The cracks in the abyss retreated continuously behind Chen Ling. He recalled the map carved on the stone tablet, constantly adjusting Wu Yi’s direction, his gaze fixed on the monotonous gray earth before him, lost in thought.
The Gray Realm maps currently in the hands of the human domains only roughly marked the locations of the major Calamity territories and some terrain. After all, the conditions for humans to walk in the Gray Realm were too harsh; they not only had to resist Gray Realm pollution but also deal with Gray Realm Calamities that could appear at any time. Therefore, the further away from the human domains, the more blurred the maps became.
In contrast, the maps in the hands of the Fusion Faction were quite detailed. After all, the Fusionists had an innate advantage in Gray Realm activities. Whether it was the precision of the maps or the range of the mapping, they far exceeded the human domains... But neither the human domains nor the Fusion Faction had any map records of the Gray Realm behind the Ghost-Mockery Abyss, because no one had ever been able to cross the Ghost-Mockery Abyss.
Chen Ling was perhaps the first in nearly a hundred years.
"Ocean, cavern, mountain range, forest, island, wilderness... what does the legendary Seventh World-Ending correspond to?"
Although the Jiangtian Sect’s stone tablet believed that the Silent Angel was not a World-Ending Calamity, Chen Ling couldn't help but view him from the perspective of a World-Ending threat. After all, no matter how you looked at it, that thing shouldn't be human... How could a human grow gray wings?
Angels, could they belong to the sky?
Chen Ling looked upward, but apart from large swaths of lead-gray clouds, he saw nothing.
Time passed minute by minute. Wu Yi galloped at full speed along the direction Chen Ling pointed, having completely left the Ghost-Mockery Abyss and penetrated deep into this Gray Realm hinterland where even Calamities were extremely rare.
Chen Ling checked the sky; nearly half a day had passed since they left the Ghost-Mockery Abyss.
It should be noted that at Wu Yi’s current speed, half a day was enough to cross the distance of two or three domains, but even so, there was still nothing around them...
Just as Chen Ling intended to turn back, he suddenly noticed something out of the corner of his eye and let out a soft "huh."
