Chapter 120: The Game
"Weapon Master."
As those two words were spat out from Han Meng’s mouth, the gun in Chen Ling’s hand suddenly flew out and was grabbed by Han Meng in a flash!
Everything happened so suddenly that even Chen Ling was stunned. He looked at his empty palm, a flash of bewilderment crossing his eyes beneath the mask...
What kind of skill was this?
"It seems you don't know much about the [Judgment] path either." Han Meng held the gun with one hand, pointing it at the red-clad figure before him, his eyes narrowed. "The second-stage skill of the [Judgment] path, [Weapon Master], can control all weapons in one’s vicinity. Using a gun to intimidate me... was a wrong decision."
Han Meng supported himself on the ground with one hand and stood up shakily. His face was still pale, but much better than before.
He kept his gun aimed at Chen Ling and continued:
"Regardless of which faction you belong to, since you saved me, I won't make things difficult for you... Take off the mask, and I’ll let you leave."
Where the gun pointed, on the pitch-black mask, the crimson smiling face stared straight at Han Meng, showing no intention of honestly complying.
"Let me leave?" The red-clad figure sneered. "Are you enforcers all this arrogant?"
"Do you want to take a closer look at what you’re holding in your hand?"
Han Meng frowned, his gaze shifting slightly downward, and he froze in place.
At some point, the "gun" in his hand pointing at Chen Ling had turned into a smooth banana... At the same time, the red-clad figure slowly raised his other hand and used Han Meng’s gun to press against his forehead again.
"[Weapon Master]? Is it very impressive?"
[Audience Expectation +5]
The pitch-black mask was almost pressed against Han Meng’s face, the exaggerated crimson corners of the mouth looking as if they were mocking him wantonly. He put away the playfulness in his tone and spoke coldly, filled with murderous intent:
"This will be the last time you provoke me. Don't try to challenge my patience... Enforcer."
As the words fell, he stuffed the gun in his hand back into Han Meng’s waist...
Yes, he returned the gun to Han Meng.
A look of gravity appeared in Han Meng’s eyes for the first time. Chen Ling’s behavior was undoubtedly a show of force in his eyes... Even if I return the gun to you, what can you do?
This action completely dispelled Han Meng’s idea of attacking. In fact, the reason Han Meng used [Weapon Master] to seize the gun was partly to regain the initiative, and partly to test the red-clad man’s strength. But the ability the other party displayed completely exceeded Han Meng’s cognition.
Among the Divine Paths Han Meng knew, there shouldn't be any that possessed such a bizarre skill, which confirmed his earlier guess that he was a "Fusionist"...
The red-clad man had been angered by his probing. If he really attacked again, the outcome would be hard to predict... Under these circumstances, maintaining the current brief peace and searching for clues in the dark was the best solution.
"Is this the ability of that Calamity of yours?" Han Meng still wasn't scared by Chen Ling, asking calmly as if nothing had happened. "To be able to fuse with such a powerful Calamity without your mental will being affected, and without obvious signs of physical alienation... How did you do it?"
"You talk too much, Enforcer," Chen Ling said lightly.
Seeing this, Han Meng shut his mouth sensibly.
Chen Ling naturally couldn't let Han Meng probe him, so he shut him down with one sentence, then brushed his wide theatrical robe sleeves, turned, and walked toward the end of the black earth, leaving him only a mysterious back.
Han Meng watched him for a moment, then followed.
"What are you following me for?" Chen Ling turned his head, his cold voice coming from beneath the pitch-black mask.
"Humans walking in the Ash World will attract Calamities, and you are the only color here. Only by following you will they not approach," Han Meng replied expressionlessly. "Since I’ve survived, there’s no need to rush to my death."
Humans are besieged in the Ash World? There’s such a thing?
Chen Ling noted this down secretly. Come to think of it, since he entered the Ash World, not a single Calamity had approached him...
Of course, Chen Ling wouldn't believe Han Meng’s reason. With Han Meng’s personality, it was impossible for him to cling to others just to survive. He was following him, inevitably, to figure out his identity.
Another game of acting and wits...
Chen Ling sighed inwardly. He just wanted to save Han Meng on the way; he didn't expect the aftermath to be so troublesome.
"Suit yourself," Chen Ling replied coldly.
Perhaps because of that sentence, this time Han Meng didn't say a word, just walking quietly behind him. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit stiff.
A few minutes later, Chen Ling finally couldn't help but speak slowly:
"What do you think of this place?"
"Where?"
Chen Ling raised his hand and pointed at his feet.
"The Ash World?" Han Meng’s gaze swept across the surroundings, and he pondered for a moment. "Very boring, very oppressive... and very dangerous."
"It is a bit oppressive... but after staying for a long time, it’s alright." Chen Ling nodded slightly, the pitch-black mask lifting slightly, two crimson eyes staring at the lead-gray clouds in the sky. "Compared to your Aurora Domain?"
Han Meng’s heart stirred. It sounded like this red-clad man had been staying in the Ash World for years... But then again, the survival situation for Fusionists was difficult; they weren't tolerated by human domains, so it was normal for them to stay in the Ash World.
"Aurora Domain..." A flash of complexity crossed Han Meng’s eyes. "Then the Ash World is indeed better."
"Oh?"
"Although Calamities are dangerous, they are still better than the human heart."
"That doesn't sound like something an Enforcer should say."
"For me, being an Enforcer is a responsibility, not a position." Han Meng shook his head. "I say what I want to say; they cannot bind me."
The pitch-black mask turned around and looked at him deeply. "It sounds like you aren't satisfied with the Enforcer system."
"Perhaps."
"Why not choose to leave?"
"Leave? Where to?" Han Meng looked at him, his eyes narrowed. "Other domains are too far, and they aren't necessarily better than the Aurora Domain... Should I go join a malicious organization like the Jiangtian Sect or the Twilight Society?"
"Good and evil, who can decide?" Chen Ling replied calmly. "Do you think that Enforcers represent good?"
Han Meng looked quietly at Chen Ling’s back. After a long while, he spoke slowly:
"It seems you are from the Twilight Society."
Beneath the pitch-black mask, Chen Ling’s pupils constricted slightly.
He instantly controlled his body, not letting his pace falter in the slightest, and continued walking forward at an unhurried pace.
"What makes you say that?"
