Chapter 1102: Little Jian’s Scream
Jian Changsheng had a dream.
Pitch-black killing intent, like a quagmire, squirmed slowly beneath his feet, like a monster devouring the abyss... His legs were buried deep within it, and no matter how he struggled, he couldn't pull them out at all.
Beads of sweat the size of peas rolled down Jian Changsheng’s cheeks. He panicked, trying to grab onto something nearby, but there was no leverage in this dead, silent quagmire. The more he struggled, the deeper he sank. Gradually, half of his body had been swallowed.
"Damn it, what is this hellish thing?!"
"Hearts!! Diamonds! Clubs... save me!!"
"Damn it, damn it, damn it... where did all these people go?!"
Jian Changsheng looked around helplessly, trying to find that familiar red-clad figure within the endless killing intent, but all that surrounded him was a blurry, chaotic void...
Just then, a black figure slowly rose from the quagmire of killing intent.
Because of the distance, Jian Changsheng couldn't see his face, but the person was wearing ancient armor, covered in blood and mud. Even through the thick killing intent, those sharp eyes filled with murderous intent flashed coldly, staring straight at him...
Jian Changsheng’s body gradually sank into the quagmire. Seeing this, he asked in a panic:
"Who are you?!!"
The man didn't speak, just stood above the quagmire of killing intent. The endless killing intent around him swirled toward him like a vortex, as if he were the master of this place... All that was left for Jian Changsheng was a pair of eyes looking down at him like an ant, filled with disdain and contempt.
For some reason, the moment he saw that person, Jian Changsheng had an ominous premonition.
At the same time, Jian Changsheng’s vision blurred. Before he knew it, a phantom wearing a bright red opera robe was floating quietly beside him. Due to the obstruction of the killing intent, Jian Changsheng couldn't see his face or expression, but he was almost certain that the guy was Chen Ling!
Jian Changsheng’s eyes lit up, and like someone grabbing a straw, he shouted toward him:
"Hearts!! Where did you run off to just now?!"
"Come and pull me out!! That guy is a bit weird! Let's get away from him..."
But strangely, no matter how Jian Changsheng called out, the red-clad Chen Ling showed no intention of coming closer. Instead, he turned around coldly and walked into the distance.
Jian Changsheng was stunned. He shouted in disbelief:
"Chen Ling!!! Come and save me!! I just sacrificed all the luck of my second half of life to save you, you can't just stand by and watch me die!!"
"If you turn out to be an ingrate, I... I won't let you go even as a ghost!"
The red-clad figure disappeared into the end of the killing intent without looking back. Jian Changsheng was left alone again. He stared blankly at the silent surroundings, and a fear unlike any other surged into his heart... It was dozens of times more terrifying than being stuck in the quagmire himself.
The quagmire of killing intent swallowed Jian Changsheng’s body bit by bit. His vision went black, and a strong sense of weightlessness surged into his heart.
……
"Chen Ling?!!!"
Jian Changsheng woke up with a start, sitting bolt upright.
Sun Bumian, who was lying lazily on a rocking chair nearby, was startled so badly by the shout that he jumped up, his small round sunglasses almost falling off his nose. After seeing it was Jian Changsheng, he cursed angrily:
"Spades, are you sick in the head?! Huh?! I was just about to win back my gold... just a little bit more... I had already beaten the Red King to a pulp, I was just one step away from asking for the location of the gold, do you know that?!"
Jian Changsheng: "...?"
Jian Changsheng sat blankly on the bed, looking at the familiar surroundings, and it took a while for him to come to his senses:
"Why are you fighting the Red King?"
“……”
Sun Bumian held back for a long time, waving his hand to skip the topic. "Don't worry about that... What kind of nightmare were you having? You were gnashing your teeth while shouting Hearts' name."
"I..."
Jian Changsheng stammered for a long time before letting out a long sigh. "Nothing."
Immediately after, Jian Changsheng looked around and asked again:
"Isn't this where we stayed when we were in the Tianxue Domain? Why are we here?"
"Where else would we be?" Sun Bumian lay back on the rocking chair, basking in the sun, and spoke leisurely like an old man. "After you withstood the attack from the Calamity of Mockery, you passed out. That old geezer... oh, that Red King said we should take good care of you, so we had to find a safe place nearby to wait for you to wake up. After thinking about it, this place was the closest and safest.
Speaking of which, you should thank Little Flower properly. He was the one who carried you through the Gray World the whole way."
"Little Flower... where is he?"
"In the hospital bed next to you."
Jian Changsheng turned his head to look. On the hospital bed next to him, a mummy wrapped in bandages was lying peacefully, hands folded over his chest, looking like he was just one wreath away from passing away. Even the loud shout that had scared Sun Bumian earlier hadn't disturbed him in the slightest.
Jian Changsheng couldn't help but get up and put his finger under Jiang Xiaohua’s nose. After a long while, his face turned pale.
"Diamonds... Little Flower seems to be dead."
Hearing this, Jiang Xiaohua opened his eyes leisurely and said reluctantly: "You're the one who's dead."
“……”
"Why don't you breathe when you sleep?!!"
"I don't need to breathe in the first place." Jiang Xiaohua turned over, back to Jian Changsheng, as if he had fallen asleep again.
Jian Changsheng turned around speechlessly, paced the room for a while, and after holding it in for a long time, couldn't help but ask: "...Where is Hearts?"
"Him..."
Sun Bumian’s expression was a bit strange. "He left."
"Left? Did he go back to the Ancient Theater?" Jian Changsheng recalled the Four Ks saying they would take him home, and asked subconsciously.
"No, he left the Twilight Society..."
"Oh, so he left the Twilight Society... I thought..."
Jian Changsheng suddenly froze in place.
Half a second later, he snapped back to reality and stared fixedly into Sun Bumian’s eyes. "What did you say?!!!!!"
Sun Bumian lay on the rocking chair, swaying back and forth as he explained the whole story. After listening, Jian Changsheng stood there like a statue.
"He left... how could he just leave like that??" Jian Changsheng’s chest heaved violently. "Is the Red King sick in the head!? Forcing his own disciple to death?! Now that he’s forced him to the Fusion Faction, is he satisfied??!"
Sun Bumian clapped his hands, stood up from the rocking chair, and resonated directly with Jian Changsheng:
"Right?! He is sick!! How can a perfectly good demigod do such low-life things?!"
"Let's go!!"
"You also think it's too much to find him, right?! Let's go! Let's go find him and settle the score!"
"We're going to the Fusion Faction to snatch Hearts back!!"
"Right, we're going to the Fu...???" Sun Bumian paused, looking back at the extremely serious Jian Changsheng.
"...What did you say?"
