Chapter 1001: Memory Return
Factory area.
On the floor of the warehouse, the lines of incantations gradually faded.
Almost simultaneously, two figures sat up from the ground as if waking from a long dream!
Beads of sweat hung on Wu Duo’s face; it seemed that activating "Alice’s Cellar Library" was quite a drain on her. She turned to look at Fang Liangye beside her.
"How was it? Did you find what you wanted?"
Fang Liangye sat there blankly, like a statue, deep confusion and bewilderment swirling in his eyes...
"Liangye?" Wu Duo called out again.
"...Yeah, I found it."
Fang Liangye came back to his senses and replied absent-mindedly. "Thank you, Miss Wu."
"I told you... never mind, let’s get out of here first."
Wu Duo no longer had the energy to correct Fang Liangye’s form of address and led him out of the warehouse. Jian Changsheng and the others were still standing at the entrance, waiting listlessly.
Seeing Fang Liangye come out, Jian Changsheng was just about to ask something when a deafening roar came from afar!
Boom—!!!
Violent flames surged into the sky, and figures flew above the thick smoke like a dense swarm of insects, then scattered in all directions. Various God Path auras erupted simultaneously, and the scene was incredibly chaotic.
"Isn't that the direction of the church?" Wu Duo asked in surprise. "What happened??"
Jian Changsheng and the others also looked over, their eyes full of confusion.
"Heart 6 has released those guys from the dungeon." Fang Liangye didn't seem surprised by this at all. "The Empty City Strategy would be discovered sooner or later. Since that’s the case, we have to stir up the water first... Now, our opportunity has arrived."
Fang Liangye turned to look at the three of them. "You guys come with me."
"Where to?"
"To provide backup for Heart 6."
After saying this, Fang Liangye turned and ran toward the church.
He had only run two steps when he felt himself being hoisted up, his feet leaving the ground, and he moved rapidly toward the distance as if riding the clouds!
Fang Liangye looked back and saw Sun Bumian shrugging his shoulders:
"If we wait for you to run all the way there, Heart 6 will be long dead... Let’s pick up the pace."
Jiang Xiaohua and Jian Changsheng flew close to the ground like cannonballs, instantly sliding past beneath Fang Liangye, and Sun Bumian, carrying him with cloud-stepping footwork, also vanished at the end of the street at high speed.
……
"We should go."
In the dungeon, Chen Ling looked at the completely empty cells around him and spoke slowly.
After Chen Ling opened all the dungeons, those prisoners had all rushed out of the underground and into the church. If nothing went wrong, the church was already a chaotic battlefield between the Fire-Usurpers and them.
But after Hongxiu took charge of the church, the Fire-Usurpers stationed inside had basically been dispatched outside. With only the remaining few hands, they couldn't possibly be a match for this group of prisoners... In other words, the fall of the church was inevitable.
Chen Ling’s gaze returned to the front. At this moment, in the entire dungeon, only one prisoner had not left...
"You’re not leaving?" Chen Ling looked at the knight and raised an eyebrow slightly.
"'I' am right here, why would I leave?" The knight raised her hand and pointed at Hongxiu beside Chen Ling. "You brought her here, wasn't it to find me?"
Chen Ling looked at the knight in surprise, seemingly not expecting her to realize that her memory had been replaced.
"You guessed it?"
"If it weren't for the Silver King’s sneak attack, he wouldn't have been able to swap my memory, nor could he have controlled me... It’s just a pity that I am now just a Fifth-Order knight. Even if I know everything, I have no way to leave this place."
The knight shook her head helplessly.
Hongxiu had the means to resist the Silver King’s memory theft, but it seemed she hadn't had time to use it. By the time she came to her senses, her memory was already in the body of this Fifth-Order knight. Even knowing everything, she had no ability to break out of the dungeon.
Chen Ling had many questions he wanted to ask, but now was clearly not the best time. He unlocked the knight’s door and took a few steps back.
"We can't go through the church; we have to open another path out." Chen Ling looked at Hongxiu.
Hongxiu nodded slightly, raised her hand, and pointed at the wall beside her. A wisp of killing intent pierced directly through the rock and soil, opening a passage leading outside the church.
The three of them didn't hesitate at all and sprinted along the passage!
Facts proved that Hongxiu’s control over distance was extremely precise. The three of them returned to the surface exactly outside the church, and at this moment, the church was already filled with roaring explosions, and one could vaguely see numerous figures fighting inside.
"...They should be here soon..." Chen Ling looked around, muttering to himself.
"Who?" Hongxiu asked.
"The other 'me'."
No sooner had Chen Ling finished speaking than he saw several familiar figures rushing toward them.
Fang Liangye and Sun Bumian descended from the sky, and after them, Jian Changsheng and Jiang Xiaohua arrived here shortly after.
"How can you run so fast while carrying someone?" Jian Changsheng looked at Sun Bumian with dissatisfaction. "You’re so good at running now, why weren't you carrying me when we were dining and dashing?"
Sun Bumian: ...
"Heart!" Seeing that Chen Ling was still fine, Jiang Xiaohua finally breathed a sigh of relief. "You’re still alive, that’s great."
Although it sounded a bit awkward, it was clear that Jiang Xiaohua was speaking from the heart. He was the only one among them whose memory of Chen Ling hadn't been stolen. Seeing Chen Ling return, a rare smile appeared on his tense little face.
Chen Ling immediately said: "Plum Blossom, we need your help... Help us swap the memories of the two of us, and the two of them, back. Can you do it?"
Jiang Xiaohua’s gaze shifted between Chen Ling and Fang Liangye, then to Hongxiu and the knight. After a slight pause, he nodded:
"Hmm... I should be able to."
Jiang Xiaohua had the four of them lie down, plucked a hair from each of their heads, and began tying knots at his fingertips...
At the same time, obscure incantations sounded from the tip of Jiang Xiaohua’s tongue, and the aura of the Witch God Path spread in the air. As the last knot was tied, he placed the two hair knots between the four of them.
"Curse."
Jiang Xiaohua pointed, and the two knots instantly vanished without a trace.
A familiar drowsiness surged into Chen Ling’s mind, and his eyelids closed heavily; the other three did the same. They lay flat on the ground one after another, as if falling into a deep sleep.
After doing all this, Jiang Xiaohua’s face turned an unhealthy pale, and he was completely exhausted.
Sun Bumian looked at the chaotic environment around them, feeling uneasy in his heart:
"How long will it take for them to swap back?"
The prisoners were out of their cages, the church had fallen, and those agents and Thief Saints scattered outside would definitely react. If they all rushed back before this was over, everything would be finished.
“3。”
"3 minutes?"
“2……”
“???”
“1。”
As Jiang Xiaohua’s voice fell, the four figures sat up from the ground simultaneously, as if startled awake from a nightmare!
